Warriors 2022 Men's Indigenous Jersey for Warriors Fans is a must-have. Developed in partnership with Te Tairawhiti based Ta Moko artists Maia Gibbs and Ngai Tamanuhiri, Rongowhakaata (Ngati Porou), Rongowhakaata und Te Whanaua-a-Apanui. Te Amokura is our 2022 Indigenous jersey. It is a powerful symbol of our connection, unity and identity. Te Amokura is the name of the jersey. It is well-known throughout the Pacific, Australia, Aotearoa, and elsewhere. The Amokura was an invaluable tool for the great navigators of Pacific who were trying to chart the largest body of water in the world. It is known for its distinctive red, long-tail feathers. These were highly prized by warriors and chiefs of Te moana nui A Kiwa. These are represented by the two red stripes embroidered on jersey's back. These colours represent important aspects of the club's identity as well as the journeys that staff and players have taken to get away from their families and fans in the past three years. Blue is mana moana. The Pacific Ocean connects Aotearoa to Australia, New Zealand, Aotearoa, and New Zealand. It is home to our collective whakapapa. Green is mana whenua. Aotearoa is the land and the home of the Warriors. It acknowledges Australia's true home, Aotearoa, and mana whenua. The Aboriginal whanaunga, who hosted the team for the last three seasons, are the original Australians. Red represents mana tangata. The people link players past, present and future as they march onto the battlefield of battle. Each player is given a whakapapa to weave. The black color is Te Po and represents learning and development. While the white is Te Ao, which is expression and action, it is Te Ao. It can be described as a "korowai" (cloak), worn by the wearer to express their journey. It is a symbol for our cultural identity and the closeness that we share as Indigenous peoples around the world. The jersey is identical to what Indigenous round players wear.
